The opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) is reviewing the report from its disciplinary committee, which investigated alleged criminal conspiracy, fraud, and theft against the suspended National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Gabam.
This followed the submission of the report on Friday by the disciplinary committee led by Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Sadiq Liman (retd.) to the party’s national working committee (NWC), which is chaired by the Acting Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe.
In addition to Gabam, Messrs Clarkson and Ogbonna Uchechukwu, the National Auditor and National Youth Leader respectively, were also accused of the alleged misconduct.
Liman revealed that only the suspended National Auditor responded to the committee’s invitation among the three accused persons, while among the NWC members, only the National Organising Secretary refused to honour the committee’s invitation.
Nonetheless, he stated that the committee gathered sufficient evidence from all who appeared.
He further mentioned that the documentary evidence provided by the NWC was valuable, leading to findings and extensive recommendations aimed at repositioning the party.
Among the alleged infractions by Gabam were bypassing due processes and failing to adhere to internal audit procedures in the disbursement of hundreds of millions of Naira, in breach of the party’s constitution.
Gombe assured that the committee’s findings would soon be made public as part of ongoing efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
