‘With 10 million PVCs, PWDs will determine Nigeria’s next president’

The Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JNPWD) has said people with disabilities will determine the next president of the country with its over 10 million registered voters.Its Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Prince Paul Adelabu, who disclosed this yesterday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South West Zonal delegates’ conference in Ibadan, said the association supports President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection bid.

Adelabu said the group’s endorsement and support became necessary due to the way President Buhari gave priority to the well being of people with disabilities.He disclosed that no fewer than 27 million persons with disabilities regarded Buhari as a father who is genuinely concerned about their plight.

He added that members of the association would be celebrating Buhari on January 23 every year, saying the President signed the Disabilities Bill into law on January 23 this year.

“Former presidents Olusegun Obadanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan did not sign the bill. Any government that is concerned about the plight of disabled persons should be voted for,” he said.Speaking, South West Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Olusola Oke, urged the Yoruba to vote massively for the APC.

While urging the Yoruba to vote for Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Oke said the party gave the region the Vice Presidential slot, stressing that for the region to retain the slot, it should vote for the APC. Responding, Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, urged the South West zone not to allow the Vice President’s slot to go to another region, adding: “When we vote massively for Buhari we can ask for more and we will get them.”

On his part, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who was represented by Dr. Morounkola Thomas, said the collaboration between the North-West and South West was arranged to favour the country.
