Youth participation will change Nigeria’s economic and political face, says Bindow

Adamawa State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bindow has applauded the Senate over the constitutional amendment making it possible for the younger generation to contest political offices, saying it would change the economic and political face of the country.

The governor, who spoke yesterday in Yola during the election of the state chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), said the only way the country can move forward, economically and politically, is to involved youths in leadership positions as part of the policy formulation process in the country.

The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Augustine Ayuba, pointed out that Nigeria is moving on snail speed because of lack of youth participation in policy formulation.

Bindow maintained that the law would open the gate for our youths to take over from the older generation still occupying leadership positions.“We should stop pretending; there is limit in life. Age cannot allow us to do certain things, because our brain is weak, not that we are not intelligent.

“So, for country’s interest, let us give the youth a chance to moved the country on the fast lane,” he stated.
