Agbenla becomes new Lagos Surveyor General

While recognizing the strategic importance of surveying, he noted that the office of Surveyor-General was a very sensitive one, pointed out that it was from the office that surveys and land titles get defining for the orderly development of the society and for the provision of accommodations.

THE Lagos State government has announced the appointed of Mr. Joseph Olorunjuwon Agbenla as the new Surveyor General.

Agbenla who succeeds Mr. Remi Olatunbosun as the 8th Surveyor General was sworn in last week by Governor Babatunde Fashola. The 1982 graduate of surveying from the Institute of Road, Rail and Bridges, Bucharest, Romania, will be combining two portfolio; Surveyor General/Permanent Secretary.

At the occasion, Fashola stated that his appointment is in line with the State’s quest to ensure proper monitoring of its land and water bodies. It will also to ensure adequate digital mapping and enterprise GIS while overseeing the supply of special data for effective determination of socio-political and economic resources of the State.

Governor Fashola, who extolled the hard work of the immediate past Surveyor General in the completion of the geographic mapping of the State, charged Agbenla to ensure continuity and stability in all surveying processes.

He emphasised the need for leadership and commitment in the Survey department of the State, adding that “accuracy among surveyors means that we would be able to issue titles and other land documents very quickly”.
