The Rector of the institution, Dr. Salisu Usman made the call when he received the executives of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Kogi State branch, at the institution’s main campus, in Lokoja.
According to a statement by the head, public relations and Protocol Unit, the rector described the body as one of the very important bodies in community development and stressed that the polytechnic would collaborate with them on academic development.
Usman said the institution would seek to establish the department of estate management in the school of environmental technology to boost its manpower capacity. He reassured the leadership of the professional body of continued partnership.
The chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Kogi State Branch, Apeh Phillip commended the rector for his giant stride in the institution, pledging that the body would support the school to make the establishment of the new department successful.
Phillip said the association, which is one of the oldest professional bodies in Nigeria, is responsible for providing support to the government and private organisations on land acquisition, management and infrastructural development.
According to him, the institution was ready to provide necessary service to protect the polytechnic’s lands from grabbers and illegal encroachment.
