Lagos, Ogun NIESV to partner on training, others
The Lagos branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has entered into partnership with the Ogun State Branch to boost relationship with relevant agencies of government in both states.
The move is also expected to promote professional and business development in the profession. Speaking during a recent visit to Ogun State branch, the Chairman, Lagos branch, Mrs. Olabisi Demola-Alade, explained that the initiative involves collaboration in organising training and educational programmes, especially ease of doing business, synergy between private practitioners and civil servants by bridging the gap and creating business opportunities, career talks and seminars for students of estate management in tertiary institutions.
According to her, the partnership will enhance professional and business relationship with the public sectors of both states, as well as create opportunities for upcoming estate surveyors and valuers.
She said: “Professional capacity building is in the core existence of NIESV. This exco adopted it as a top agenda. We inaugurated the Resource Centre Advisory Committee, with a mandate the professional trainings.
The committee headed by Prof. Timothy Nubi, started training in critical aspects of what we do as estate surveyors and valuers. Also, the branch had successfully held its Mandatory Continuous Professional Development (MCPD) programme on ‘Real Estate Outlook in the Present Dispensation’ with two sub-topics, commercial real estate valuation challenges and other topic including facility management.
Demola-Alade explained that the new executives had improved members’ welfare; firm and agency visitation; revived its outdoor programmes, improved relationship with the public sector; advocacy and creation of awareness for estate surveying and valuation.
Other aspects, she said are improved membership base and mentoring of younger members, improved relationship with its national body and deepening of its research and development as well as the data project.
