The Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Authority, Mr Olusegun Odunmbaku, has emphasised the need to resolve boundary matters in communities towards enhancing infrastructure planning, administrative coordination and service delivery.
Odunmbaku spoke when he led a boundary inspection team to the Ojodu and Ifo axis in company Lagos State officials. The move is part of efforts to resolve longstanding boundary issues in Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State and Ifo Council in Ogun State.
He explained that the exercise, which was conducted in collaboration with the Lagos State Boundary Commission, was aimed at identifying and demarcating the territorial limits between both local government areas.
The boundary assessment covered areas such as Kosoko Street in Ojodu-Berger, up to Yakoyo Bridge, where geographical data was collected for further analysis. The process is expected to provide clarity on land administration and governance and foster better understanding between both communities.
Odunmbaku reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to due process, stating that resolving boundary matters would enhance infrastructural planning and efficient service delivery for residents, who constantly yearn for development in their communities.
The inspection team included representatives from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters, and Rural Development (MLGCA&RD), the Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Bunmi Oluyadi, and other stakeholders such as traditional rulers, market women, community leaders and youth representatives.
One of the officials from the state Boundary Matters Department, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the primary objective of the visit was to establish clear boundary identification between Ojodu LCDA and Ifo LGA.
It was further gathered that some officials from the Office of the State Surveyor General had earlier embarked on a site inspection to record coordinate points, a crucial step in determining the exact territorial limits.
