With new brands popping up everyday on the market and non-stop launches on social media, the beauty industry is brimming with new trends. This year, we saw the introduction of new trends and the comeback of some which had gone out of trend. Here are the top beauty and fashion trends of 2019 that we noticed and loved.

Nude Makeup
This year, most people ditched the bold and heavy makeup for a nude look and it worked, bringing out the sex appeal in every woman in an equable way. From nude lips to nude eye shadows, nude make-up is the most versatile look that complements every skin colour. Most of our celebrities and fashionistas rocked this look this year.

Ponytail
Spotted on runways, fashion shows, movie premiere and other events, ponytail hairstyle made a comeback from the 90s. It comes off as a go-to hairstyle when we run out of hair ideas. Simple and yet edgy, it frames your face in the most natural, beautiful way.

French nails
French nails were popular some years ago but we noticed it made a huge comeback in the course of the year. We spotted the nail design on our favourite celebrities while it was also popular on Instagram.

Bangs
Bangs are strands or locks of hair that fall over the scalp’s front hairline to cover the forehead, usually just above the eyebrows, though sometimes they can even cover the eyes. The hairstyle returned to the beauty scene in the middle of the year along with ponytail hairstyles. Most celebrities rocked the bangs with a ponytail and it was simply beautiful.

Winged Eyeliner
This is one of the biggest beauty trends of 2019. Winged eyeliner elevates the eyes in a sexy and unique way. It adds an extra pop of drama to the eye makeup. Makeup lovers and celebrities rocked this style.

Accessories
Embellished head accessories, statement earrings and sequin head wraps were everywhere this year and we definitely paid attention. Turbans, beautiful head wraps and scarves stormed the fashion and beauty scene and women and even men went all out with them.

Blue Denim
If you attended most of the fashion shows that happened this year, you’d have noticed that different hues and textures of blue denim very prominent on the runway. Irrespective of one’s skin tone, this denim tone is complementing in a chic way.

The Black Dress
Either little or big, the black dress is a basic wardrobe staple. Featuring prominently throughout this year, it is going nowhere soon and we would definitely see more of it next year.

Generous Detailing
Detailing such as metallics, lace, fringe, puffy/exaggerated sleeves, chiffon and sequins enjoyed much attention this year if the runways and Ankara styles are any indication. Get ready to see more of these in 2020.

Print
Print is enjoying much patronage these days and 2019 was no exception. Ankara prints were off the charts with amazing patterns and designs and designers like Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi, Ituen Basi, Odion Mimonet put out amazing designs with prints. Prints have been back in a huge way for a while now and next year is expected to bring brighter, richer patterns, colours and designs, so watch out.

Alte Fashion
We definitely noticed alte-fashion gain much ground this year and it was exciting to see it play out in living colour. From the outfits to accessories, hair, styling and so on, it is definitely going to be even bigger next year and we cant wait to see what next would bring.
