The battle for the N7million grand prize in The People’s Hero reality show kicked off in Enugu last Saturday, as over five hundred youths came out to show their skills before the judges. It was a mixed feeling of passion, excitement and, of course, a disappointment to many of the young people, who couldn’t make it to the top eleven.

The top eleven contestants selected include three spoken word artistes, two dancers, three actors, and three singers. These 11 will slug it out with others that will emerge today in Owerri, Imo State.

One of the judges, Tobechukwu Ejiofor, also known as IllBliss, informed that only the best could emerge in the reality show. He acknowledged the level of talent displayed by these youths as being original and creative, encouraging them not to give up on their dreams.

The rapper advised them to go back to the drawing table and improve their skills as the opportunity may present itself again in the nearest future.

The People’s Hero is a talent hunt by Hero Lager Beer, from International Breweries, that seeks to celebrate the culture of the Southeast and South-south people of Nigeria. It focuses on skills and talents in the areas of singing, dancing, spoken word and acting with a reward of N7million, N2million, and N1million for the first, second and third place winners respectively.

Commenting on the Enugu audition, the Marketing Manager Hero Lager Beer, Obumneke Okoli said the audition has confirmed the idea is well thought out and a property that the youths highly associate with. He described it as an outpouring of youths and talents in their raw state, which connects with the brand’s desire to help them realise their potentials.

He also commended the show of culture and heritage of the people as demonstrated by the participants. According to him, the youths showed up to tell their stories with their dressing and mannerism, which is what the brand identifies with.

Okoli commended the Viacom International Media Network Africa team for hosting a hitch-free audition that managed the crowd effectively and ensured everything went smoothly while expressing confidence that the Owerri audition holding today will be more eventful.
