Amapiano, a style of music that emerged in South Africa in 2014 appears to be gaining grounds in Nigeria. Following Airboy’s release of ‘Dance’, an Amapiano-laced song about a month ago, frontline disc jockey and artiste, DJ Neptune, has also dropped a version for his highly successful track, Nobody, in this unique style of house music emanating from South Africa.

Amapiano is a sophisticated hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music characterized by Synths, airy pads and wide basslines.

Now that two prominent figures in the Nigerian music scene, DJ Neptune and Airboy, have thought it fit to bounce on this music pattern, then a bandwagon within the industry is imminent. Amapiano is distinguished by high pitched piano melodies, Kwaito basslines, low tempo 90s African house rhythms and percussions from mother local subgenre of house known as Bacardi.

Meanwhile, Airboy’s official video for ‘Dance’ which dropped about a week ago is doing very well on cable music screens across board. Credits to “The 10 Best Amapiano Songs of 2019”, “Amapiano songs, Albums And Mixtapes”, and others.
