It was a special moment at the Port Harcourt edition of the Glo Laffta Fest , as the gig provided a platform for ace comedian, Bovi Ugboma and his colleague, Dan D’ Humorous to celebrate their birthdays which coincided with the event.

While Bovi’s birthday was on Monday, a day after the event, Dan D’Humorous’s birthday fell on Sunday, which was the day of the event. Bovi, who was a major feature at the event climbed on stage urging the crowd to sing him a birthday song after his performance, “so that he could boast that he assembled the massive audience for his birthday”.

The crowd obliged him and some of his colleagues, led by Godwin Komone (Gordons), climbed on stage to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him. Dan D’Humorous on his part came on stage holding a glass of wine to signal a merry spirit occasioned by his birthday celebration, thereafter taking the crowd on a comic cruise that left them in stitches.

Glo Laffta Fest, a loyalty reward comedy show designed by Globacom is a 27-city comedy tour. It kicked off in Port Harcourt on April 16, 2017 and had gone round 22 other cities before returning to Port Harcourt on Sunday where the event was held at The Hub Event Centre, for the benefit of Globacom subscribers resident in the Trans Amadi area of the city.

Delectable Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim and Nollywood diva, Uche Jombo, compered the event, which was attended by Nollywood legends including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor and Richard Mofe-Damijo as celebrity guests.

The superlative show was opened by Kingsley Kalu, popularly known as TwoCanTok in comedy circles in the Southeast and South-South. The audience was serenaded with jokes about the differences between the rich and the poor as TwoCanTok painted graphic descriptions of the wide disparity between the financially stable and the stark poor.

Olufemi Fagade, known in comedy circles as Omo Baba came on his heels comparing songs by old artistes and new artistes while topping it with many other rib-cracking jokes while Benneth Daniel, popularly known as Acapella did not disappoint his fans as he kept up the tempo with several hilarious anecdotes and jokes.

Godwin Komone, popularly called Gordons, and Bright Okpocha, known as Basketmouth, raised the bar with their outstanding comedy lines, which drew cheers and roaring laughter from the appreciative crowd.

As the next edition of the comedy show holds in Onitsha on Sunday, Globacom encouraged its subscribers, who wish to attend the show, to use up to N2,000 credit within one month and text LOL with their preferred location to the short code 240; for example, “LOL Onitsha” to 240. Subscribers who do not meet this criterion can win tickets to the show by buying a Glo SIM and N2000 recharge credit at the venue.
