Stimulating, energetic and exciting. There are a lot of words that can aptly describe the 10-track album from Nigeria’s rap prodigy, A-Q, as well as his radical counterpart, Brymo, dubbed, Ethos. Within this new record, A-Q ushers in a new era of storytelling rap, which would help him on his journey to return to the thrill of stagecraft.

“God made this project, I didn’t. A masterpiece is finally here,” A-Q says, describing the project.

For years, A-Q, had been snoozed from the halo of stage performances, having to take up more demanding roles as a label executive, he tells Weekend Beats.

He also explains that his collaboration with Brymo was strategic to help him re-learn the ropes of stagecraft, from someone who is currently revered as one of the greatest in that space.

Within the record, A-Q also goes through a sombre dive within the themes of love, life and loss, using it as a tribute to his long-time producer and friend, BeatsbyJayy who passed on, in November 2021. Produced by the acclaimed sound-whiz, Bigfootinyourface, Ethos is a fine addition to A-Q’s enduring discography, as well a model for rapper-singer collaborations in the African music industry.

Ethos is out across all digital platforms.
