Lagos conducts free eye tests, distributes glasses to police officers

Lagos State government, through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport and Logistics, has conducted free eye tests and distributed corrective glasses to police officers of the Nigeria Police Zone 2 Command.

Dr. Jimlas Ogunsakin, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti State on Public Health, who volunteered for the initiative, stated that it is a commendable effort.

Ogunsakin added that it is the best way to strengthen the occupational health system between the Lagos State government and the Nigeria Police Force.

Damilare Orimoloye, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, also said the programme is a laudable one.

“It shows that the governor of Lagos State is intentional about the people in the state.”

He also explained that the whole process was seamless and not time-wasting. He advised the beneficiaries to make use of the glasses recommended to them, aside from doing regular checkups.

Lagos State government partnered with VisionSprings to bring the initiative to fruition. Abimbola Ogundirahun, Country Manager for VisionSpring, said that the initiative is good, adding that a lot of residents have benefitted from it. She advised the participants to use the glasses, as the initiative is to make the officers see better and be more productive on duty.

ACP Edino Justice Ojali, in charge of X Squad Zone 2 headquarter, expressed gratitude to the government for the initiative.

Former BBN housemate, Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as “Tacha,” who noted that the initiative is good, commended the governor for putting it together.

She explained that she was interested in the initiative, citing the sacrifices police officers make in protecting citizens.
