Slide & Bounce: Korede, Wande Others Rock Ijebu Ode

De Prime Event Centre, Molipa Quarters, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, was agog on Saturday, October 3, as the Glo-sponsored musical concert, Slide & Bounce, stormed the area. The residents of the town had long waited for the fun train to arrive from Victoria Island, Lagos, where fun lover were soaked in excitement.

As expected, thousands of Glo subscribers thronged the venue of the show where some of Nigeria’s musical superstars performed. Top rated artistes including Glo ambassador and Bumper to Bumper crooner, Wande Coal, performed their hit tracks. From A si ma peyin, You Bad and other popular tunes, Wande’s performance climaxed with My Woman, My Everything, a song he did in collaboration with Patoranking.

Burna Boy elevated the tempo of the show when he came on stage. The Dancehall, Afrobeat, R& B and Hip pop superstar performed his hit track Run my Race and Checks and Balances, with a youthful energy that elicited cheers from his fans. The audience surged towards the podium, some of them climbing the chairs to have a clear view of the singer.

Supreme Mavin Dynasty protégé, Korede Bello got an ovation from the audience as he mounted the stage to perform; he did his hit track Godwin. Ego Ogbaro’s sonorous voice filled the air as she sang Don’t give up and Love me now to the delight of her teeming fans.

Other activities, including a dancing and singing competition added spice to the show. Competitors were drawn from the crowd to vie for mouth-watering gifts. The auditorium erupted in a deafening cheer when a seven-year-old boy, Tolulope Orimoloye, was declared winner of the dancing competition. Obadia Shanu and Hassan Idris also won in other categories of the dancing competition and both went home with branded prizes, courtesy of Globacom.

Guests numbering over two thousand filled the auditorium and almost turning the show into a carnival.

Odunlade Adekola, a Nollywood actor and Glo ambassador, also made an appearance on stage to the delight of fans, who welcomed him with a loud ovation as he told them experiences from his acting career. Jimmy de Hypeman, who anchored the show, engaged the crowd in a sublime manner, through musical interludes between the performances by the star artistes.

Glo Slide ‘n’ Bounce musical concert began six weeks ago in Ibadan and has already touched six locations. The event was organized by Globacom to reward loyal subscribers. The next concert will be held in Surulere, Lagos.
