Omowunmi Okungbure elevates scene to realism with SFX artistry

Omowunmi Okungbure, a creative visionary who created the artistic genius of a prosthetic and Special Effects (SFX) in modern cinematography, including ‘Gangs of Lagos’ has said that in captivating realm of cinema and television, the boundaries between reality and imagination are often blurred.

She noted that while actors bring characters to life through their performances, it is the SFX makeup artists that truly breathe life into most characters.

The popular ‘Gangs of Lagos’ cinematic triumph owes its success not only to a gripping story and stellar performances but also to the artistic genius of a prosthetic and SFX makeup artist Omowunmi, who was the creative visionary behind the gruesome wounds, blood effects that brought a pivotal fight scene to life and hair effects to form part of the characters.
