COVID-19 breeds prayer warriors in Nollywood

By the time the COVID-19 pandemic ends, Nollywood would have produced a number of prayer warriors.

It has been prayers and songs of praise to God for most motion picture practitioner, particularly those who attended the recently held African Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA) and showed no sign of the symptoms of the disease after they were advised by the Lagos State Ministry of Health to remain in self-isolation.

Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, who made the ‘self-isolation’ request, confirmed that one of the guests at the award ceremony tested positive for the COVID-19, thereby exposing other attendees to the virus.

That announcement was all some Nollywood practitioners who attended the ceremony needed to dust up their holy books for a long session of prayers that has continued even after they didn’t show any sign of the virus.

In fact, we had it on good authority that some celebrities had to quickly join Tyler Perry’s He’s Got The Whole World in His Hands singing challenge aimed at spreading hope that God is able to end the global pandemic.

The last time CelebrityExtra checked, actress Uche Nnanna had not stopped singing the African-American spiritual popularised by Laurie London. Same for Ejike Asiegbu, Ehinna Nwigwe and filmmaker, Charles Novia, who has dropped a pidgin version of the song.
