Dreamworld Africana Opens At Christmas

After three years hiatus, Dreamworld Africana is set to begin operation of its amusement and theme park during the Christmas season.

Dreamworld Leisure Limited, the owner of the park located at Lekki, Lagos, has recently secured N500 million in addition to the previous N1 billion to make the park a world-class facility.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Lagos during the week, acting chairman of Dreamworld Leisure Limited, Mr. Wale Misere said the park would be read to receive visitors at Christmas.

According to him, Dreamworld Africana will feature fun facilities such as go-kart arena, mini game arcade, family coaster, bumper car pavilion and dinosaur arena.

Other facilities expected to be provided are four-screen cinema, rail walk ride, water splash area, restaurant and sporting facilities including soccer pitch, tennis court, basketball and volley ball courts.

Misere said there is plan to also build Technology Park, shopping mall, hotel and a virtual reality centre that will provide visitors with “great African experience”.

He said: “Theme Parks all over the world promote and celebrate the culture of the host location. Dreamworld Africana will not only showcase the most exciting places to visit in Africa, the Mountain Kilimanjaro, Great Pyramids of Egypt, Victoria Falls etcetera, but celebrate and showcase the culture of Nigeria.”

He said the park would be starting off with the celebration of culture of the people of Delta State, which will commence on December 12.
“We plan to bring to Lagos one to two high profile events every month,” he said.

The CEO of Dreamworld Africana Limited, Mr. Jude Atoh, said the choice of Lekki as location was informed by demographic factors. He said Lekki is an ideal place to build amusement park of international standard.

According to him, Lekki is a place where both the middle and upper income earners in Lagos are resident. The location is also easily accessible, he said.

“And with the establishment of two other parks around here, we are convinced that we have not made a wrong decision.”
He assured the prospective visitors of getting the best offer in term of funfair and security, and all at “pocket -friendly fares”.

Speaking on security measures taken by the park, the Dreamwold boss said the park is protected by high fence manned by efficient security men. In addition, a police station nearby provides protection, but “we have also sent a proposal to IG to approve a police post closer to the park.”

Atoh encouraged parents to bring their wards during the Christmas, saying visitors could gain admittance into Dreamworld with just N300.
