Renowned entertainment lawyer Akinyemi Ayinoluwa attributes his successful legal career to a lifelong passion for music. In a candid interview, Ayinoluwa, affectionately called Akinyemi, shared how his love for music inspired him to pursue a career in music law, allowing him to merge two fields he deeply cares about.

“Music has always been a part of me. My love for music led me to pursue a career in music law, where I can combine my legal expertise with my passion,” Ayinoluwa explained.

His journey into the legal profession began after earning a law degree from the University of Lagos. Following this, he co-founded HighTower Solicitors and Advocates, where he now serves as a partner, focusing exclusively on music law. This strategic decision has allowed him to represent some of Nigeria’s top musical talents.

Akinyemi’s client list includes some of the music industry’s most influential names, such as Magicsticks, Niphkeys, Andre Vibes, Kukbeatz, Masterkraft, Blaq Jerzee, ID Cabasa, Northboi, Rexxie, Jaypizzle, RunCheck, Larry Lanes, and Tuzi.

His expertise in music law has helped secure hundreds of thousands of dollars in deals for his clients, further establishing him as a staunch advocate for intellectual property rights in the entertainment sector.

“We need a strong judicial system to enforce and support intellectual rights in the music and entertainment industry as a whole,” Akinyemi emphasised, speaking on the need for legal frameworks to protect creatives.

Throughout his career, Ayinoluwa has been committed to ensuring that artists receive fair compensation for their creative efforts. He’s highly selective about the clients he works with, seeking out individuals who share his vision for a more equitable music industry.

“I’m more interested in working with people who value my work,” he stated, allowing him to focus on meaningful partnerships.

His dedication to empowering artists has earned him a sterling reputation as the go-to lawyer for music professionals in Africa, and his work continues to inspire new generations of both artists and legal practitioners.

Looking to the future, Akinyemi Ayinoluwa remains steadfast in his mission to advance the Nigerian music industry.

“The music industry in Nigeria is getting better, but there’s still much work to be done,” he acknowledged. His tireless efforts are breaking barriers and reshaping the future of Africa’s music scene, one legal case at a time.
