The members of Ephphatha Assembly International, Apomu, Ogun State, rolled out their drums to celebrate the 16th year anniversary of the church. The occasion was also used to unveil the new church building.
The event marks a milestone in the journey of the church that has positively impacted lives and its immediate environment. The Founder/Senior Pastor of the church, Rev. Joseph Akinsola, who went down the memory lane, said despite the challenges in the journey, the Lord has been giving the church testimonies, resulting in its expansion. “Ministry is not a child’s play. It has been interesting and very challenging to find myself here because I was an Anglican priest before I received the call to start this ministry on May 20, 2009. We thank God for grace and it has been Him alone.
“This is a trans-generational church as a lot of things have been put in place and are still being put in place, the church has been assisting the community, impacting positively to elevate their standard of living and winning more souls for God.
In his sermon, during the dedication service, the Presiding Bishop of Rhema Christian Church & Towers, Ota, Archbishop Dr. Taiwo Akinola, who asked salient questions like – what is this building about? Who owns it? How can we maintain the glory of God here?” said from all beautiful edifices, adorning monumental places, only the church is called the house of God because it is the dwelling place of His glory.
While quoting Mathew Chapter 16 verse 18 to 19, “And I say also unto thee, that thou are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church…,” the archbishop said the household of God is the people.
“God will always reward those involved in building His house. All those who have been involved in this building, you’ll see God blessing them.
“Who is the owner of the Church? This is the house of God. Jesus said I’ll build my church; hence He owns the church. He builds it, He owns it, He keeps it and He nourishes it. Churches are modern cities of refuge, let’s always be joyful to make the church a place of joy, not of mourning and complaints. Let the Lord be God over His Church.”
