To showcase the hospitality industry, share inspirational stories and business success strategies, a podcast titled, The Hospitality Business Show is set begin. Hosted and created by founder of 2wenty2 Hospitality, Yvonne Mordi, the show will feature Industry experts, C-level executives, Leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners, iconic brands and businesses around the world are changing the game in the Hospitality Industry.

Fondly regarded as Africa’s Hospitality queen, Mordi said issues around Leadership, Sales, Entrepreneurship, Change Management, Inspiring Transformation, Values, Relationships, Workplace culture, ethics, tools and strategies, Passion, Purpose, Personal Growth, Professional Development, mentoring, Career Advancement, Building a Legacy and Wealth Creation will be the peg of discussions. These conversations are meant to inspire others to strive for personal and professional goals and constantly look for ways to continually make their Hospitality businesses thrive.

According to her, “I think that due to the broadness of the industry it is sometimes difficult to explore or understand fully all aspects within the industry. However, these businesses usually fall under four broad categories: accommodation, food and beverage, travel and tourism, and entertainment. Whichever niche you operate, the business of hospitality is focused on the satisfaction of customers and providing specific experiences for them.”

On how the hospitality industry can bounce back following the pandemic, she stressed that it is going to be a slow process. “When we look back on how we overcame various past crises like the SARS outbreak, there is certainly hope for recovery. One of the ways the Industry can bounce back is through collaboration and innovation.

The economic impact of COVID-19, has been harsh and there have never been a better time for Hospitality businesses to innovate and try new things than now.

Mordi noted that businesses that are most affected can partner with other sectors, like the entertainment and transport Industries, as this is an opportunity for the industry to come together and help each other recover. It is also important to start thinking of new solutions for fulfillment of guest expectations or simply reinventing the old.

Hotels who have conference rooms can start looking at virtual spaces to host meetings, bigger rooms can be turned into long-term stay and of course meals can be delivered.

While speaking on what berthed the show, the hospitality expert said that in business, nearly everyone encounters failure; some learn from it, and forge ahead, some don’t. Not because they don’t want to but because they don’t know how. “This was my story few years ago. When I started my hospitality Business, inspirations were so far from me, I made lots of mistakes, failed many times but I got the help I needed and forged ahead. Now with so many happenings around the world, we all need a little bit of inspiration, for some its a little push, for others, an advice would simply go a long way to turn their businesses around.

People also need to hear and know how some leaders triumph when others in similar circumstances fail. This Podcast show was birthed to help listeners learn from these experiences, which saves start-ups trouble in future.”
