Animal print is the in-thing this season. Indeed, it is evergreen and will continue to garner attention in the fashion world. And this is why fashion lovers can’t have enough of this beautiful fabric. This also explains why it is the rage of the season. Year in, year out, these wild prints continue to make fashion statements. Animal prints are alluring and bestows on the individual a sense of sophistication and style. One of the fascinating things about animal prints is that they come in an array of colours, designs and styles. Irrespective of the season or weather, you can rock these prints in style to different events.

Mr. Lexy Mojo-Eyes, a fashion ambassador and convener, Africa Fashion Reception, said animal prints garments have patterns of the skin or fur of such animals as leopard, cheetah, tiger, zebra, giraffe and striped hyena, among others.

He said: “Animal print has always attracted lots of attention, and has been in fashion for a long time now. Most of the time, it is associated with African wild life. Over the years, however, international designers have borrowed inspiration from the African wildlife of animal prints. Obviously, this trend does not seem to fade and is still ruling the fashion world. People think animal prints can be worn only by women, but there are ready-made animal print garments for men also.

“Animal print has been in fashion, and is not showing signs of going out of fashion soon. It is not only used for wearable items, it is also used for lifestyle purposes like tablemats, throw pillows, curtains, floor towels and wall decoration. Animal prints give a different look from the regular. It can be worn with a smart skirt. You can wear it on denim with sneakers for casual hangout. It is worn with shorts, as well as on a jacket. It is also worn with leather pants/skirt on heels.

“Animal prints have a way of drawing attention, which is why it is important to pair it up perfectly to look right. The golden rule to remember, when wearing animal print, is to never dress head to toe with the fabric. You don’t want to look like one going for a circus. So, keep it minimal, because “less is more.” This way, the look is kept sophisticated and stylish.”
