Lagos creatives spark up urban street fashion with innovation

Lagos came alive with a bold splash of colour, rhythm, and self-expression as young creatives hit the streets for a high-energy fashion show that blended style, music, and art in dynamic harmony.

The Urban Street Fashion organised by Senamimage signatures brought together photographers, designers, musicians, and visual artists to showcase their work and collaborate with industry veterans.

Convener of the event, Oluwakemi Ezekiel, said the event goes beyond fashion displays, describing it as a platform where creativity, innovation and collaboration converge to uplift emerging talents in Nigeria’s creative industry. According to her, the goal is to foster a thriving community where ideas can be shared freely and where young creatives can find mentorship and support. “Urban Street Fashion is more than just an event.”

It is an experience and a platform that enables creatives to network and connect. We want to create a space where ideas can thrive,” she said.

Ezekiel emphasised the importance of mentorship in helping young talents grow, urging established industry players to actively engage and guide the next generation.

Also speaking at the event, founder of Knowledge in Cybersecurity for Institutions (KICI), Kehinde Ologun, highlighted the growing threat of cybercrime in the digital space, warning creatives to take steps to secure their intellectual property. “Cybercrime is a real threat in today’s digital world. Creatives must watermark their work, use two-factor authentication, and take digital security seriously,” he said.

Ologun added that the fashion industry, like other sectors, faces increasing cyber risks, stressing the need for proactive measures to protect creative assets in an interconnected world.
