Leading cosmetic company in West-Africa, Ghandour Cosmetic Limited, recently announced its presence in Nigeria with the unveiling of Nollywood actress, Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde as its brand ambassador. The unveiling ceremony was held in Lagos during the week, where the actress officially sealed the deal.

Speaking with Journalists after the ceremony, Omotola, who has been with the company for three years said, “though, this is Ghandour first time in Nigeria, they have been in Ghana for two years and I have been their ambassador since then; I am comfortable with it. For me to be their brand ambassador for three years, it must be comfortable. Apart from being the brand ambassador, I also use the product especially the hair spray and the relaxer; Ghandour is a very nice product,” she said.

Though she will be working with the brand at different levels, the immediate plan, according to Omotola, is to roll out and to announce the presence of the brand here in Nigeria.

“I hope they will have a factory in Nigeria just like they have in Ghana so that they can create more job opportunity for Nigerian; I think that should be there immediate plan.”

Asked about her definition of beauty, Omotola said, “I think for women, beauty is in confidence. If you are a confident woman and understand your self-worth, I think you are beautiful. And that’s why sometimes, you see some girls that you think visually in your own definition of beauty are not aesthetically beautiful, but any time they walk into a room, everybody turns and you imagined why people were staring at her; it’s because of her confidence.”

To the actress, beauty is about knowing yourself well, understanding your body and working with what you have.

“Most women don’t have everything, even I don’t have everything, but there are some things that you have. Ghandour Cosmetics is all about hair and you know that hair is the crown of a woman and I think for a woman to be beautiful, your face is the first thing someone sees. Your face is your introduction and your hair is the crown of the face,” she said.

On her 20 years in marriage, the lovable actress said, “I’m just thankful; I’m married to my friend, my destiny supporter. There is no relationship without its challenges; misunderstandings do arise, but when it does, ability to settle the differences defines you. 20 years and some people said, ‘Oh My God you guys must be without stress.’ I just want people to know that if you are determined to do it in life and you are determined to make it you will make it.”

Though relationship, including marriage, is full of challenges, Omotola noted that, “don’t use every opportunity of a quarrel in a relationship or with your spouse to justify the fact that everybody says marriage is hard. I understand that there are some relationships that have more challenges. If there is any form of abuse involved, I think they should find their way out quickly. But if there is no abuse or any other thing, you can hang in. I’ve had good times with my spouse; just be friends that’s what matters most,” she said.

Ghandour has been in West Africa for over a decade providing a superior range of skin and hair care products for the past fifteen years, employing over 600 Ghanaians in Accra, Ghana. The brand also has presence in Mali, Togo, Burkina Faso and the Gambia.
