Beta Pikin singer and Five Star Music act, Harrysong, Presh of KC Presh fame and other celebrities will tomorrow be on the stage live at St. Leo Catholic Church, Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos for the Share Your Closet (SYC), a charity auction aimed at raising funds through sales of fairly used good quality items to support widows and the less privilege people living in the slums.

The event which is put together by Qtaby Events and Entertainment, an event production/management and artiste management outfit in conjunction with the Jegede Paul Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on the upliftment of the less privilege through socio-economic development and outreach projects.

Speaking about the event, the chief executive officer of Qtaby Events and administrator of Life Fountain Orphanage Home, Victoria Nkong, said the vision behind Share Your Closet is to encourage members of the society who would love to reach out to the widows, and do not have money or do not know how to reach them. This event gives them an avenue to encourage and give support the less privileged.

“Funds generated from auction will be directed to the widows who would get grants for small business and skills acquisition empowerment. Items not sold would be donated directly to residents of slum communities,” she said

According to her, the Share Your Closet is an off spill of Jegede Paul Foundation annual Slum Invasion Project, which since 2013 it was established has been involved in widows support programs and the less privilege empowerment.

She said, “The SYC is an off spill of Slum Invasion, an annual event by the Jegede Paul Foundation in slum communities in Lagos. The Slum Invasion is a program the Foundation has been doing yearly with celebrities to celebrate with them in the neighbourhood and sensitise the on the possibility of getting a better life, and help some of the youths with some skills acquisitions.

“In the past year, we have concentrated on youths and children through the Slum Invasion, but thought it wise and necessary to also give a lending hand to the widows in the society, particularly in the slum. We realise they are group of people in the society that are marginalised. It is difficult for a woman who lost her husband to pull through with about four to five children. We have always supported the youths in the slum but this year, we decided to take it from a different viewpoint by trying to give a support to the widows,” she added.

She noted that the project has already started receiving donations and support from top personalities and celebrities including Radio OAP, Manny, Harrysong, DJ Humility, Toofan, Presh, Kola Oshalusi, and OTB among other credible individuals.
