Hodari returns with Sad Song

After his last project entitled Adura, which he released in February 2020, emerging urban/African-alternative R&B singer, Joshua David Ugbana, popularly known as Jhamal Hodari, has returned with a new single, Sad Song.

A perfect blend of R&B and Afrobeats. The track is the first official single off his long-awaited debut extended play (EP) studio project entitled Love Is A Messy Game, which will be released February 5.

With a sweet blend of African vibes and flavor, as well as a powerful, enchanting chorus and silky Afrobeat, the mid-tempo record is a representation of Rayge’s musical growth. According to him, Sad Song is a ‘Happy-Sad’ song about a man’s decision to end a toxic and abusive relationship and move on to being a better him and self-loving.

Hodari music style is influenced by genres from Afrobeat, Afro-Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B and Indie-alternative with influences from artiste like Fela Kuti, Cold play, Mario, Sam Smith, The Weekend, Nonos Amadi, Ric Hassani, Tiwa Savage, Chloe and Halle, and Frank Ocean.

Over the year, he has increased his growing fan base to 40,000 consumers on his social media platforms, where his audiences engage him. He has opened for the likes of Femi Kuti at the Femi Kuti Live in Abuja and was also part of the headline acts alongside Niniola, Jesse Jagz, Ric Hassani.
