Inaugural 72-hour Lagos Shopping Festival excites stakeholders
The inaugural edition of the Lagos Shopping Festival (LSF), Africa’s first 72-hour non-stop commerce and entertainment event has been held. The festival, described as a groundbreaking initiative, has been praised for its immense success and contributions to the state’s economy.
Managing Director and Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions Africa Ltd, Israel Jaiye Opayemi, whose firm conceptualsisd the event, attributed the success to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s leadership.
“Firstly, the LSF could not have come to fruition if the governor did not buy into our audacious plan when we first presented the idea to him during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Secondly, it was the governor’s exemplary leadership of the project as its Chief Marketing Officer which attracted the buy-in of key sponsors like Zenith Bank, Tolaram Group, First Bank Plc, and Guinness Nigeria Plc,” Opayemi said.
He noted that Zenith Bank and First Bank played pivotal roles by providing mobile banking platforms and specialized Point-of-Sale machines to support vendors and enhance buyer transactions. Both banks also marketed their diverse banking products to guests within the arena.
Opayemi added that Tolaram Group showcased its commitment to societal well-being by distributing free products like PowerOil, Indomie, and Kellogg’s in goodie bags. “The Indomie team also activated a children’s arena featuring Santa Claus, games, and daily free meals, creating a joyful experience for families.”
Guinness Nigeria added excitement with a product sampling activation, showcasing premium brands such as Singleton, Johnnie Walker, Ciroc, and Captain Morgan. Guests were treated to vibrant experiences that complemented the festival’s lively atmosphere.
At the unveiling of the festival, Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the sponsors, calling the initiative a value addition to Lagos State’s tourism calendar and a boost to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium, the LSF brought together buyers, sellers, and fun-seekers, offering deals from local and international brands. The event featured thrilling performances by top entertainers such as Adekunle Gold, Wande Coal, Teni, and BNXN.
