Lancelot Imaseun’s Gbege for NFFG Europe world premiere

Gbege, the new film by notable filmmaker Lancelot Oduwa Imaseun will have its world premiere at the 2022 edition of the Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG) scheduled to take place in Frankfurt from 29 to 30 July 2022.

However, Gbege, The First Song Saga will screen at 5:30 pm, at the renowned FilmForum Hochst Cinema, Frankfurt on July 29, 2022.

Directed by Imaseun who is popular as D’Guvnor and who is best known for helming critically acclaimed productions such as Invasion 1889, the Issakaba series and many other remarkable films, Gbege stars notable Nollywood actors such as Sam Dede, Mercy Aigbe and Charles Inojie.

According to a release signed on behalf of the festival organisers—Ehizoya Golden Entertainment, the screening of Gbege will be followed by a screening of a Ghanaian movie, Heroes of Africa by Frank Fiifi Gharbin. Also scheduled to be screened is Son of Mercy by Amen Imasuen.

The film screening will dovetail into another major highlight of the festival, which is the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards (NEGA). According to the President and Founder of Ehizoya Golden Entertainment Isaac Izoya, the NEGA will feature a grand gala nite and live music concert featuring top star artists and performers and other international celebrities. Expected to feature are Aproko, Nollywood stars, Emperor Wadada, Edo sons of legends and a host of others.

In the words of Izoya who is popular as a Cultural Ambassador, “We are poised to make the event an unforgettable night of celebration because it coincides with the 20 years anniversary of our continuous promotion of African culture in Europe.”

On his part, Imaseun thanked the organisers for the opportunity to have the world premiere of Gbege in Germany, adding, “I am indeed humbled by the selection of my film Gbege by the screening committee of Nollywood film festival Germany and for the special invitation to this special screening. Germany played a big part in my long filmmaking career and I feel happy and very happy for the opportunity to return there to show them what I have been up to since the last time I visited Germany.”

The NFFG and NEGA are packaged by Germany based Ehizoya Golden Entertainment. The outfit is committed to promoting Global Integration and African Cultural Heritage Across Europe and Beyond via Nollywood films and roadshows.

While the NFFG has become a viable platform designed for Nollywood (Nigerian/African) film-makers to showcase their movies to Europeans and Nollywood fans in the Diaspora the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards, NEGA Awards is a reward system that recognises personalities and institutions that have contributed in promoting global integration and African cultural heritage across Europe and beyond.
