The organisers of the HOMEX West Africa Expo have revealed that efforts are in top gear to officially release the 2025 HOMEX State of the Industry Report on the future of design, décor and interiors in August.
The body said that the Nigerian interiors, home decor, and lifestyle sector is quietly experiencing a shift, and the numbers now show just how significant this transformation is.
“As we gear up for the official release of the 2025 HOMEX State of the Industry Report, we offer you a first look at the data, insights, and opportunities that will shape the future of design, décor, and how we live and work. This is more than a report; it is a mirror of the changing tastes, trends, and the undeniable economic force behind the interiors and lifestyle space in Nigeria.
According to data compiled in the 2025 HOMEX Sector Overview, Nigeria’s interior design industry is growing into a structured and economically viable sector.
The Interior Designers Association of Nigeria (IDAN) projects that the industry generates over ₦30 billion annually within the African economy, while other estimates place Nigeria’s interior design market alone at over $40 million.
As we prepare for HOMEX West Africa 2026, which takes place on the 19th -21st May at Eko Hotel & Suites, VI, Lagos, these insights will serve as a foundation for meaningful conversations, partnerships, and innovations across the continent.
With rising urbanisation, a booming real estate market, and an emerging middle class hungry for functionality and aesthetics, the demand for quality interior and lifestyle solutions is accelerating.
The HOMEX report reveals several key trends of more designers are undergoing formal training and certification, signaling a maturing industry, while there is an increasing fusion of traditional Nigerian elements with modern design concepts.
It also said designers are embracing tech tools and materials that suit Nigeria’s tropical climate, including hardwood, bamboo, and smart home solutions, just as home decor market is expanding online, driven by mobile penetration and digital-savvy buyers.
“While the full dataset will be released with the official launch, early insights are compelling: 85.7% of survey respondents identify as professionals within the interior design sector, suggesting a concentrated and active core driving the industry forward.
“90% of these respondents report growth in their business activities, with 38% seeing strong growth and 52% citing moderate increases.
Commercial real estate leads as the top market driver (57%), followed by residential housing and home automation. Demand for luxury and high-quality finishes is growing rapidly, though so are concerns about escalating project costs.”
The HOMEX State of the Industry Report will offer deeper sector breakdowns, insights from industry leaders, growth projections, challenges and innovation opportunities, and policy and investment recommendations
It noted that Nigeria’s interiors and home lifestyle economy is not just a creative space; it is a business sector with enormous potential.
“For designers, retailers, real estate developers, and manufacturers, this report provides a roadmap for navigating the next phase of growth.
The full report will be unveiled soon. We invite stakeholders, collaborators, and decision-makers across real estate, design, construction, retail, and policy to engage, respond, and contribute to shaping the next decade of African interiors and lifestyle living.
