Over 250 beauty enthusiasts nationwide will converge at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos for the The Lagos Beauty Summit in the first week of July.

Created by Seddy Cosmetics, the theme for this first edition is The Power Of More and will feature exhibitions, investors, fashion and beauty experts, master classes, industry greats and international partners.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos to kick off activities, founder of the summit and CEO of Seddy Beauty Studios and Cosmetics, Temitope Sedi, who has been in the industry for over 10 years, said the summit would address the shortfalls in the beauty industry, fight fakes and connect consumers and exhibitors to beauty experts and the right investors that would grow their businesses.

“Several people have invested millions of Naira in this industry but struggle to recoup their investments because of a heavy influx of fake products. This is killing the industry and frustrating genuine people like us that are working hard to put the right products out there. This summit aims to correct this and many other issues that we presently grapple with. LBS will promote increased networking and partnership between different stakeholders in the industry; create awareness about the opportunities and potentials in this multi-billion dollar industry. It will also nurture the culture of buying ‘Made In Nigeria’ beauty products, while creating a movement of beauty enthusiasts that will do more for the sustainability of this industry.”

Revealing that the event, master classes and exhibition would be free to all, she added that experts would be present to speak to attendees on how to make money from the beauty industry, exchange ideas and network. “Well known brands like the House of Tara, BMPro, Zaron, foreign and lesser known brands would be present to share from their wealth of knowledge, so we are encouraging everyone involved in this industry to come and participate. We would be bringing international, well-known brands to partner and invest in our local businesses, so there is something for everyone,” Sedi stressed.

CEO of BB Buzz, Yomi Olaniwun added that there would be food, drinks and entertainment from top musical artistes, an award session for distinguished industry experts, trade shows, industry legends roundtable and one-on-one sessions with beauty business moguls. The speakers will share their perspective on consumer dynamics, the power of collaboration and how retailers are reinventing the shopping experience.
