In upholding Madiba’s legacy of making the world a better place, Southern Sun Ikoyi, Nigeria’s leading business and leisure hotel, joined the rest of the world in livening the hearts of the under privileged with a corporate social responsibility visit to its adopted charity, The Arrows of God Orphanage in Ajah, Lagos.

The visit is part of activities to mark the centenary birthday of Nelson Mandela.

In what has seemingly become more than a celebration of life and legacy to becoming a global movement, Mandela Day asks us all to “Take action and inspire change”.

In doing so, the hotel donated many items, including educational textbooks, activity books, toys, educational games and inspirational books to the children at the care home.

Adopted as the official charity of Southern Sun Ikoyi for over nine years till date, support to the orphanage is in line with the hotel’s tradition of significantly contributing to the growth, development and service to all within its community.

Caring for over 200 orphaned and disadvantaged children, the care home is run by trained professionals including many teachers and care givers.

Over the years, Southern Sun Ikoyi has consistently contributed proceeds from its several social projects such as the much-anticipated annual golf day tournament to the orphanage, all in support of its daily operations.

Commenting on the exciting visit to the Arrows of God Orphanage, Ubong Nseobot, Sales and Marketing Manager, expressed delight at the warm reception from the children, and specially thanked the management and care givers of the care home for their exceptional and dedicated service in positively shaping the upbringing of the children and putting smiles on their faces, permanently.

In demonstrating the overarching objective of Mandela Day, being to inspire individuals to take action for a better world, she said, “We are here today because at Southern Sun Ikoyi, we believe that each of us can make a small difference to lives around us.”

Nseobot further reiterated the hotel’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Arrows of God orphanage and its management, ensuring that children at the care home do not live without the basic necessities of life.
