Nigerian DJ Spectacles electrifies Ghana’s Independence Bash in Hull

The “jollof’ wars were officially put on hold in London, United Kingdom recently, and replaced by a seismic shift in African unity that only music could trigger. In a lively showcase of West African unity and to mark Ghana’s 69th Independence celebration, the organisers handed the headline deck duty to one of Nigeria’s most explosive rising disc jockey exports, Clinton Ugochukwu Emenyonu, popularly known as DJ Spectacles. He lit the stage, turned the event into an energetic celebration of shared heritage and contemporary music.

Held as part of the diaspora festivities marking Ghana’s independence anniversary, the celebration brought together the Ghanaian community, African diaspora audiences, international guests, and Africans and music lovers from across the UK who gathered to honour the historic milestone while showcasing African culture through music, dance, and social engagement.

Known for his versatility, seamless blend of African sounds like Afrobeats, Azonto, and Amapiano with Western beats, DJ Spectacles stole the show with his performance keeping the crowd dancing throughout his vibrant musical set.

Upon his ascension on the stage, the Nigerian born DJ opened with a high-octane blend of Sarkodie’s Adonai and Davido’s Feel, effectively merging the 2014 era of collaboration with the 2026 new nostalgia sound. He also played a medley of popular Ghanaian and Nigerian tracks, including King Promise’s Odo and Asake’s latest hits.

The audience sang along to every word, with some even attempting to dance the Azonto. Not leaving the international guests out, he sampled some Western sounds that added a fresh twist to the traditional African rhythms, keeping the energy high throughout the performance.

For DJ Spectacles, the performance was more than just another international gig. It was an opportunity to represent Nigeria’s thriving DJ culture while celebrating the shared musical heritage between two of West Africa’s biggest entertainment powerhouses. “Music is one of the most powerful ways we share our identity with the world,” he said after the performance.

For many attendees, the event showed how the diaspora has turned into a key centre for African entertainment. “He is a master of his craft. I loved how he mixed Afrobeats with Amapiano; it was like a party on stage,” said one attendee. “The way he transitioned between songs was seamless. I have never seen anyone work a crowd like that before,” another added.

Born in Nigeria, DJ Spectacles has been steadily building a reputation for his dynamic performances and his ability to connect African sounds with international audiences. With increasing bookings at diaspora events and cultural festivals, he is emerging as one of the DJs helping bring African music to global stages.
