Oba Adeboruwa marks one year coronation
The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Abdul Semiu Orimadegun Kasali Emugoriade 1, recently marked the first anniversary of his coronation.
The event coincided with this year’s Igbogbo Day, with the theme, ‘festival of new beginning,’ with the grand finale on Sunday, November 26.
In attendance at the ceremony, which held at the Igbogbo Township Stadium, were the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Muslim Folami, who represented Governor Akinwunmi Ambode; Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Adebimpe Akinsola; Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Sanai Agunbiade; member of the House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson; and member of the State Assembly, Nurudeen Solaja.
Monarchs, such as Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, Ranodu of Imota; and Oba Adewale Osiberu, Elepe of Epe, were also there.
Oba Kasali described activities to mark Igbogbo Day as deliberately designed to chart a new course for the ancient community, adding: “Today’s occasion is the culmination of a 10-day long activities designed to bring out a new phenomenon for Igbogbo.
“The preceding programmes were rich in variety and the spontaneity of the support they got from the young and old leaves little doubt that the organisers of the two events that we are concurrently celebrating today did not lose focus of the goals they have set for themselves.”
