WE almost forgot to tell you that Dr. Oba Otudeko, a renowned philanthropist and Group Chairman of FBN Holdings was one of the eminent personalities honoured last week during the Ogun State 40th anniversary celebration of Ogun State last week.

WE almost forgot to tell you that Dr. Oba Otudeko, a renowned philanthropist and Group Chairman of FBN Holdings was one of the eminent personalities honoured last week during the Ogun State 40th anniversary celebration of Ogun State last week.

He was conferred with a special recognition among the five outstanding Ogun stakeholders.Otudeko is a Nigerian entrepreneur and visionary reputed for his highly successful domestic and foreign investments that cut across diverse sectors of the economy.

He was a former president of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and assumed responsibility for the change transformation of the Nigerian capital market, along with its Council, driving the market to its highest capitalisation ever during his tenure.

Outside of the private sector, Otudeko has had a distinguished career in public service, especially in the area of education. He was Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (formerly Ogun State University), Ago-Iwoye between 2001 and 2010, and a member of the Africa Regional Advisory Board of London Business School, United Kingdom (UK).

The Chairman of Honeywell Nigeria Plc., he also served on the board of several blue-chip companies, including Airtel Nigeria Limited, Fan Milk Nigeria Plc. and Nigeria’s apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

He is a recipient of several awards and national honours, including the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) in 2011.He is Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK; Institute of Chartered and Corporate Accountants, UK; Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Institute Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria.
