Prince Bayo Sodade’s RCE celebrates milestone of Oba Gbadebo

Prince Bayo Sodade, president of the Royalty Club of Egbaland (RCE) and the immediate past Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget is passionate about his club, which is made up of eminent personalities in Egbaland.

Following the success of the first Alake of Egbaland National Junior Squash Tournament, organised last year by RCE to commemorate the 10th year coronation anniversary of the paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo, Okukenu IV, with with Ajisewa Egba Foundation as major sponsor, Bayo disclosed: “The tournament will henceforth be held to commemorate milestone celebrations of Oba Gbadebo.”

He also disclosed that the club, in line with its vision of transforming and rehabilitating sports facilities in Ogun State, would in conjunction with Ajisewa of Egbaland, intervene in the provision and rehabilitation of sports facilities in the state.

Bayo, who recently led a delegation of RCE on a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, presented an award to him in appreciation of his contributions to the first Alake of Egbaland National Junior Squash Tournament.

Bayo referred to Obasanjo as “the nation’s number one squash enthusiast,” while Obasanjo confessed to being addicted to the game, which he plays for 30 minutes thrice a week, saying doing so would add five years to one’s life span.

He explained that RCE mentors several young squash players, while reiterating that the club has a lot of good plans in the offing for Nigerian youths, including raising squash talents to represent the country in future.
