The Rotary Club of Festac Town, Rotarian Demola Martins has been sworn in as the president of the club. Speaking on the theme of the investiture, ‘Cultural Unity and Global Harmony, Building Bridges Through Service, as the guest speaker, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Abuja, Dr. Musa Yusuf, said Nigeria has several advantages that it could tap from its diversity.
“We can annex innovations and creativity because every region and cultural setting has its own advantages and weaknesses. We can solve our problem together if we are not too petty. We can annex our cultural diversity to solve our differences together.
Speaking after his investiture, Martins, who promised to work with his team to surpass expectations, solicited the support of the board and club members to deliver.
“Sincerely, I want to tell you that my immediate past president, Vincent Iwueze, has done so well in the last 365 days from Rotary Foundation to membership.
After commending the immediate past president, Vincent Iwueze, for greatly imporving the lots of the club, he said: “I will not just want to sustain but I want to improve on it. I have also been elected alongside a success driven board.” Managing Director of Leadway Capital, Mr. Ayo Wuraola, who chaired the occasion, lauded club members for their sacrifices.
Also, Rotarian Felix Nwagu, who represented the District Governor, District 9111, Dr. Wole Kukoyi, appreciated members of the club for their passion, energy and commitment to Rotary.
A major sideline of the event was award presentation to some individuals including: Baale of Imedu-nla Mowe, High Chief Jimoh Adebayo; Chief Peter Aguluka, Ambassador Gbenga Yusuf, Mrs. Ify Edet, Mr. Taiwo Adebowale, ESV Toyin Aluko, Managing Director of Hydro Roles, Mr. Sikiru Fashola; Chief Chinedu Madubuike, Mr Obaro Odeghe and Thankgod Fatoyinbo.
