The Business Women Connect (TBWC), has reaffirmed its role of advancing women’s economic participation through strategic dialogue and skills development, at the fifth edition of the RECAP Conference held recently, in Warri, Delta State.
Speaking, conference conveners, Doubra Emein, TBWC president alongside Executive Directors, Ufouma Ogbo and Princess Onome Akpobaro, they noted that the gathering created opportunities for women-led business leaders to share insights on building sustainable enterprises.
The platform they said, aims to strengthen professional networks among women entrepreneurs across the South-South region.
The conference, chaired by her royal majesty, Olori Atuwatse III, featured nine experienced speakers who addressed critical business and leadership issues under the theme “Reflect, Relearn, Rise.”
The sessions focused on practical approaches to entrepreneurship, purpose-driven leadership, and the value of collaborative networks among women in business.
Delivering her keynote on “Faith, Power & Progress: Women Changing the Game,” Ibukun Awosika, emphasised personal excellence as a foundation for broader impact. “Remember to be the most of the one you’re called to be,” she told participants.
“By living your lives to the fullest, every person attached to your lives will get illuminated from you shining your light.”
Tara Fela-Durotoye introduced the DARE framework in her address on “Leading with Purpose: The Modern Woman’s Advantage,” urging women to defy fear and limitations, be audacious, revolutionary and expansive in their business thinking.
She specifically challenged South-South women to “dare to shift narratives and thinking, have audacious goals that will get people questioning who they think they are.”
The conveners outlined the conference’s framework: Reflection to “acknowledge journeys travelled, lessons learned and the resilience of women across generations,” Relearning for “openness to growth, adaptation, and continuous learning,” and Rising as “the collective aspiration for women to step forward with confidence, impact, and service.”
Speakers also explored sisterhood and female friendships, examining how these relationships contribute to business growth and professional development.
The sessions on “Women Working the Talk” and “Iconic Woman” provided practical frameworks for participants to apply in their enterprises.
The gathering drew participation from Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, First Lady, Delta State, represented by Orode Meyiwa Uduaghan, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Girl Child Development.
Other guests included Emmanuel Emefienim, Founder/CEO Premium Trust Bank, Ifeoma Emefienim, Queen Iyobosa Eshemitan, Verah Orhobor, Isimeme Whyte and wives of Delta State Commissioners for Riverine Infrastructure and Development, Energy, Health and Higher Education.
