Oba Shotobi disclosed this at a press briefing in his palace shortly after his return from a compulsory 60-day seclusion. Describing his ascension to the throne as the will of God, Oba Shotobi sued for peace while urging other contenders to join hands with him to move the town forward.

Having fought gallantly, and God has ordained his own, I earnestly plead with all my brother princes to please sheathe their swords and collaborate with me to usher into Ikorodu a glorious reign”.

Oba Shotobi who is from Lasunwon Royal Family was picked by the king makers after a keenly contested process with 23 other qualified princes.

The former governor of the state, Babatunde Raji Fashola presented a staff of office to him on May 26, 2015 before he proceeded to Ipebi on June 2, 2015.
