For conference goers and revelers, Obudu Mountain Resort remains one of the best destinations in Nigeria at any time of the year. The resort with its temperate climate and exciting locations beckons at tourists from different parts of the world throughout the year.

Nestling at the top of the mountain, Obudu Mountain Resort is situated on a plateau at 1576 metres above sea level on the Oshie Ridge of the Sankwala Mountains. The temperate climate offers a total contrast and welcome respite from Africa’s tropical heat.
Situated in Cross River State, Obudu Mountain Resort is closer to the border of Cameroon and could be accessed by plane from Lagos.

The beautiful scenery and mind-blowing views of the resort makes it a choice destination for the revelers, families on reunion, young couple or holiday group.

Obudu Mountain Resort provides accommodation in the form of African round huts and chalets on stilts, maximizing the breathtaking views.
It also offers self-contained suites varying in size from the 2-bedroomed Governor’s Lodge with its own lounge/dining room and kitchenette to the 20 Mountain Villas, each with three bedrooms, lounge, dining room, kitchenette and balcony.

The food and beverage offering is found in the Terrace restaurant and bar with a cosy and relaxing atmosphere made complete by the blazing log fire. National and international cuisine is guaranteed to suit all tastes and the healthy appetites from a day’s nature walk or round of golf.
It also offers a fully equipped gym, two floodlit tennis courts, a squash court and a natural swimming pool. Lovers of golf can show their prowess on the hotel’s 9-hole golf course.

The tours to view the magnificent scenery and spectacular birdlife are a must for visitors to this part of the world and these tours can be taken on foot or on bicycle.

And for those who forgot to pack binoculars, the Canopy Walkway which is situated in the trees allows visitors thrilling close-ups of the birds in their natural habitat high above the ground.

Another interesting facility in this resort is the cable car system, which is about the longest in Africa. It serves as a major talking point for guests.

At four kilometres, this cable car gently transfers guests (and their bags) from the tropical climate at the base of the mountain right to the hotel’s reception area on the mountainside which is often in the clouds and it is accompanied by an refreshing drop in temperature.
Interesting tourist go to a particular part of this mountain to pray with a belief that the mountain is closer to God and that God answers prayers speedily.

However, an interview with one of the workers in Obudu who claimed anonymity revealed that the resort is currently facing challenges of accessibility and power supply shortage.

Obudu Mountain resort now runs on scheduled power supply due to the shortage of power. It has power supply at a specific time of the day. It has power supply from 6am to 10.am and 6pm to 10pm.

The source also revealed that visitors now have to travel by road for seven hours from Calabar before getting to this lovely destination. The reason is that the plane has stopped flying to the Resort. “Plane no longer airlift people from Calabar to this place because of mismanagement. This is due to the government’s failure to contract the management to Airline operators”

When asked of how much it costs to travel by road to the Resort from Calabar, the source said: “It costs at least N50, 000 for any private car to take you to the destination and bring you back within three days. Touring rounds the whole facilities in Obudu Mountain Resort takes any reveler about three days to avoid boredom.
