Southern Sun Ikoyi celebrates staff for decade of service

As part of activities to mark its 10th anniversary in Nigeria, the Southern Sun Ikoyi, alongside Tsogo Sun South-Africa, came together in celebrating and appreciating staff members of the brand who had spent a decade of service to the Southern Sun Ikoyi brand and the Nigerian people.

The staff members totaling about 93, who were celebrated for their decade of consistent and dedicated service, have played integral roles in ensuring that Southern Sun Ikoyi has remained a top choice amongst guests and tourists, who have always had a wholesome experience of spending quality time with friends, families and their loved ones at a home away from home.

Speaking to the Media on his experience over the past decade, Adedoyin Famakinwa, Cost Controller of Southern Sun Ikoyi said his journey with the brand started in January 2009, when he was employed alongside other selected staff members in joining the flagship team in creating a niche for the Southern Sun Ikoyi brand in the Nigerian market.

He stated that, over the past 10 years of Service, the hotel has actively engaged him in leadership and management skill trainings, which has improved his personality, work efficiency and better insights about business management and engagements with his colleagues and industry players.

Adedoyin expressed delight on the confidence in him by the hotel in empowering him with the required trainings and development exercise which has ensured that, he is able to manage the hotel’s running cost to a minimum industry standard in adding value to the organization in operating at a healthy level, which further impacts on the cost of services to guests of the esteemed brand.

Credit controller of the hotel Ifeoma Obiorah informed that she joined the team as an account supervisor over ten years ago and her development within the organisation is one which has been driven by her hunger for growth through taking up of roles that are challenging and through smart thinking was able to provide solutions for those tasks.

Ifeoma, who is a two times recipient of the Hotel’s staff of the month award, said, “I Can do spirit” is one which has been impacted on her and her colleagues in working faster and more effective, which has ensured that guests experience little or no delays in the course of engagements with the team.

Also speaking, Gospel Osiebe, Head of Concierge, said, “Beyond the security at the gate, and the courteous doorman who ushers every guest with a smile on his face to the hotel, his role as the head of concierge for the past ten years has been key in giving guests details about the exquisite offerings and facilities of Southern Sun Ikoyi. Over the past ten years, I have played the role diligently alongside my team in being attentive to guests’ requests in providing them with the best quality of service that they need.”
