Creative entrepreneur and producer, Bolly Olatunde, is teaming up with animation innovator Seun Aye, creators of Broda Kamoru—for a new animated collaboration that aims to put African storytelling on a new frontier. The project, which follows an alien trying to navigate the fast-paced chaos of Lagos, blends humor, Afrofuturism, and street-level realism in a way that redefines Nigerian animation.
Broda Kamoru has already made waves for its Yoruba humor, raw cultural references, and satirical tone. Bolly, known for his multifaceted experience in media, events, and production, brings his vision, strategy, and storytelling finesse to help elevate the project’s reach.
“We’ve told stories through music, film, and street culture,” Bolly said. “Now it’s time we tell them through animation and show the world the magic in our madness.”
This project is set to challenge traditional storytelling formats and open up new avenues for Nigerian creators in animation. Bolly believes that the rise of digital platforms has made room for local stories to resonate globally, especially when rooted in originality and local identity.
By creating a story where an alien contends with danfo buses, spiritual grandmas, and Lagos traffic, the duo hopes to deliver humor and reflection through an unexpected lens. “It’s about legacy,” Bolly noted. “And legacy starts with telling our own stories, in every format possible.”
The project is in development and expected to begin releasing visuals and teasers later this year.
