As the world continues to grapple with the spread of Covid-19 pandemic and its resultant effect on the global economy, with mixed experiences for key industry players in the entertainment and media space, stakeholders have been tasked to take advantage of the challenge to reinvent new strategies to engage their audience.

Newton Arunaye, the Chief Executive Officer of Legit9ja, an online hub with a deep passion and curiosity for entertainment, youth, and pop culture made the above call.

Speaking with The Guardian, Arunaye said, “Across different countries, demand for content in form of news, music, live video and the likes is on the increase like never before, as people have more time on their hands with many states experiencing partial or total lockdown.”

He added that in a bid to make information more accessible in a compact user-friendly format for its readers, the online hub launched a mobile app in addition to an existing website which comes with notifications to inform users of real time updates around the entertainment industry.

According to the talent hunt expert and promoter; the new app is available on both android and IOS devices, adding that the platform helps the audience to connect more seamlessly while improving their ability to collate accurate data analytics on their engagement and feedback from other users.

“In a market like Nigeria, the ability and capacity for creatives to make new content is at an all-time low, especially for emerging talents who still lack basic skills and tools such as home studios to create on their own.

“Also, as social distancing has become the new norm, the need for fans engagement have seen music acts explore alternatives in user-generated contents like social media challenges on platforms like TikTok and Triller to push new materials,” he stated.

Arunaye, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the South South music industry including Victor AD, Erigga, Graham D and upcoming acts like Brenny Jones and Kaptain, revealed that with the online hub’s content offerings and all new captivating interface, advertisers will not only experience the front end functionalities of the platform, they can get accurate analytics on the kind of content which interests our audience the most in these unique times, helping them to plan campaigns around our demographic.

“For now, no one is sure when the country wide lockdown as precautionary measures to slow down the spread of COVID 19 will be relaxed. But one thing is sure, how content is created and consumed will never remain the same and only those who evolve will be relevant, post COVID.”
