Fast-rising Afro-reggae artiste and Mavlon Consults signee, Alegwu Stephen Smith, better known in the music industry as Rayge Smith, has sued for peace in his recently released music video entitled Ebor.

Rayge Smith in the new song rendered in his native Idoma language, decries the violence and unrest in Benue State, which is mostly perpetrated by young people.

“Ebor means peace, and I’m using the new video to make a passionate appeal for peace, calling on the youths in the state and by extension the country to sheath their swords and embrace dialogue,” he said.

The budding artiste also called on the youths to consider the words of their elders and glean from the experience they offer.

“I was really worried about the violence and unrest in Benue State and it hurt me that young people like me were mainly responsible for it. I felt that I could use my talent to share a message of peace and maybe these young people will reconsider their position and stop the violence. The song got a lot of attention and I am really glad it did,” he added.

On what inspires his unique sound and music, he said, “I found inspiration for the song and video in personal experiences. My sound is inspirational; I call it spiritual because my most anticipated song always comes in my dreams. That’s why my versatility cannot be compromised.”

He continued: “Growing up in Benue State, I witnessed first-hand trauma in the wake of unrest. My primary aim is that this song motivates change in the mindset of people in Nigeria and other countries of the world.”

Meanwhile, Ebor has been used as a soundtrack in the movie, The American King, which features R&B icon, Akon and Nigerian actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim. The flick is scheduled for international release sometime in 2021.
