L.A.X, DJ Consequence, others gig with fans in ‘Kings’ Style’
It was indeed a grand and memorable experience, as celebrities and upwardly mobile Nigerians including fans favouritem of L.A.X, Hypeman Best, DJ Babus, DJ Consequence, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Jimmie Akinsola (Jimmie the Entertainer), and delectable Osereme Inegbenebo (that football girl), gathered to party in kings’ style recently in Lagos.
Powered by Budweiser, a beer brand from International Breweries Plc, a part of the world’s largest brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), the gig came as part activities for a new lifestyle show, tagged Kings of Football, which made its debut on cable TV channel, SuperSport.
The music and fashion party gave football fans a sneak peek into the lives of the kings of the game, especially what they do off the pitch. It highlights their lifestyle, fashion style, how they impact their communities, their influence on fans across the globe and more.
Speaking with The Guardian shortly after the well attended long evening party, High-End Marketing Manager, International Breweries, Franscoe Bouwer, stated that music is about being innovative, entertaining and relevant to the target audience. He added that true music involves an escalation in the brand’s festival and sponsorship activity.
He said, “The English Premier League (EPL) and the Spanish LaLiga have achieved worldwide popularity and acceptability, and Nigerian football fans follow their clubs passionately and show a keen interest in their football stars, including Nigerian international players.”
“The ‘Kings of Style’ segment of the show will be very engaging for fans. This is the segment where the trends in fashion, cars, houses, haircuts and other lifestyle trends of the footballers are revealed. Also, the segment, ‘Know your Kings’ highlights peculiar information about players not known to the public,” Bouwer added.
According to him, the latest episode showcased exciting moments in the world of football and also discussed trending topics, news and updates from the English Premier League and La Liga, adding that the show will help fans to connect more with their football heroes on a weekly basis.
Bouwer, further stated that in a bid to ensure that more people watch and follow the show, Budweiser has also provided viewing parties in different recreational facilities across major cities in the country, and celebrities like DJs Babus, Consequence, L.A.X, Hypeman Best and many others will be visiting these venues to watch EPL, La Liga matches and party with the fans of the winning teams.
He enjoins fans to check out the weekend viewing party venues from the social media handles of Budweiser. Meanwhile, the weekly show will air every Friday on SuperSport 3 by 8:30 pm with a repeat broadcast on Saturdays on any of the time slots — 8am, 10am and 2pm across Super Sport Channels.
Also speaking with The Guardian, Marketing Director, International Breweries, Tolulope Adedeji stated that footballers all over the world, including Nigeria local league players, aspire to play in these leagues (English Premier League and La Liga).
“Through the Kings of Football, fans and our local footballers will be able to glean some useful tips from the stories of the personal lives of their heroes especially in the area of their value to communities and the sacrifices they made to become stars of the game. Our viewing parties also provide us the opportunity to celebrate with fans in a unique and exciting way only Budweiser can bring to life,” she said.
