The ninth edition of the yearly gospel music gathering, Luli Concert (LC9.0), held yesterday at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Onikan, Lagos, drawing thousands of worshippers to the venue and millions more online.
Organised by El-Berachah Worship Ministry for the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), the gospel music event with the aim of promoting God’s word, worship, and intercession through praises, featured leading gospel artistes such as Sola Allyson, Yinka Alaseyori, and Bidemi Olaoba as headliners.
Other anointed ministers on parade at the event include Kent Edunjobi, Dotvocals, Oluwanisings, Glorious Twins, CCC Apete, CCC Central Choir led by Dr. Rotimi Olaosebikan, Dee Reign, Nazarite, Eniola Olusoga, Seyi Solagbade, Evangelist Akin Adebayo, and Imoleayo, making it a must-attend for music lovers and those seeking spiritual rejuvenation.
This year’s theme, “Garment of Praise,” drawn from Isaiah 61:3, reminded attendees that praise is both a response and a weapon in times of trial. The convener, Dr. Gbenga Daniel Adebayo emphasised that Luli Concert is more than just a concert – it’s a soul-lifting gathering where thousands unite to exalt the King of Kings.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos to herald the event, the convener said the concert was not conceived by human ambition but through divine inspiration in 2016, with a mandate to raise an altar of praise to God.
“Since its inception, Luli Concert has grown into a sacred assembly of believers. Every song rendered, every word spoken, every testimony shared, and every act of service at the concert is an offering to Almighty God,” he said.
On this year’s theme, Adebayo added: “Garment of Praise is a reminder that even in the midst of challenges God clothes His people through worship. LC9.0 is more than a concert—it is a soul-lifting gathering where thousands unite to exalt the King of Kings.”
Chairperson of LC9.0, Yetunde Akinlalu, said, “our theme this year is a reminder that praise is both our response and our weapon in times of trial. Despite the challenges our nation faces, there is so much to be thankful for. It is therefore vital that we raise our voices in worship, prayer, and praise this year.”
Like the previous editions, LC9.0 was preceded by several outreach programmes aimed at extending impact beyond the stage. These include medical outreach for underserved communities; music masterclass and choirmasters’ conference for gospel creative; the Luli Walk for Fitness and Fellowship, a vigil, and the popular Open Mic Challenge, which gives emerging artistes a platform to showcase their talent.
In line with its tradition of introducing a new initiative each year, LC9.0 witnessed the debut of “Back to School” outreach designed to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds with educational supplies as schools resume.
