Quadri promotes Humanity album on social spaces, communities

With a handful of Muslim women waxing secular music, Kafayat Quadri’s brand of music and poetry is gaining the attention of Nigerians on social media just as it has been performed on stages and communities in Nigeria, Benin Republic, Malaysia, Egypt, Namibia, Algeria, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Uganda, and India.

Specifically, the performance has taken place on stages including the Generation-Y Music Festival; the Lagos International Jazz Festival 2009 and 2017; George Town Literary Festival, KAKISENI International Arts Festival; the late Queen of England’s birthday party in 2019, Omawumi’s Industry Night 2019; Midem Showcase 2019; Anne Kansimes Fun Factory 2020; Lake Garden Music Festival, Ugandan National Theatre, Coffee & Fringe Art Festival, etc.

The soft-spoken musician uses social media and other media to promote her album, an inspirational catalogue that touches on the human experiences in its highs and lows in different communities, and spaces.

Famed for her hijab-wearing identity, the beautiful artiste and humanitarian worker, started as an acoustic soul singer and percussionist.

Other bodies of works, by Quadri, include KQ (The EP), and Urban Healing, an eclectic Asian sound released in 2020, which is exclusive to BandCamp.

Humanity, her fifth studio album, which was released on August 8, 2021, is a journey of self-discovery; what we are made of; creativity, spontaneity, curiosity, and the ingenuity of the human race – strange beings, beautiful and compassionate.

“Our connection is mirrored from our shared experiences and collective values of social harmony and wellness. We create love because we are free, and we are free because we are human,” she said.

Born on February 8, 1984, Quadri a poet, singer, songwriter, music producer, and certified attorney research has interests in music therapy, preventive justice, peace, conflict management, and comparative religion.

A multi-instrumentalist, Quadri plays the guitar, harmonica, flute, traditional African drums, and other percussion instruments. She also plays the piano, saxophone and Cumbus (Turkish string instruments etc.

As a producer, she handles production software applications like Logic Pro, Machine, and Garage Band.
