The record label boss of Billionaire Mafia Records, Prince Idowu Adegbite Tella who holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from University of Georgia has explained why he floated the record label company which has under his belt a couple of artists who are holding their own in the saturated Nigerian music industry.

According to Idowu Tella who is also a CEO of a logistics company in America , artists need direction and financial support to express their talents without any limitation or inhibition. He says he wants to make happen in Nigeria what is obtainable in the US, perceived as the home of entertainment.

“Billionaire Mafia record is a record label with a vision to become an international record label like Sony, ROC Nation and others in the US. The big idea is to provide a platform to nurture and develop talents in the music industry. We are concerned with the talent and business growth of the artist. While we focus on all the artists’ affairs the artist can take care of the creative process of making music without having to think about his life. We simply take the stress of life off the shoulder of the artist while the artist concentrates his energy on making good music,” he said.

He said the notion that record labels are typically set up to set the terms and conditions of artist contracts in their favor is a farce and does not work with Billionaire Mafia Records because they give their artists free hand.

“In the case of newly signed artists, Billionaire Mafia Record Label does not control the type of music the artist records, which can include everything from the way the music sounds to the song lyrics. I let my artist do it. I believe in him and his style and that’s why I signed him. What I look for before signing an artist under us is the talent, personality and your hunger or drive to succeed,” he added.

“As a record label, you need people with experience in the industry to help you even though they will swindle some of your money but you will learn and that experience will help you thrive. We are still a baby in the industry for now but soon we are going to be the giant of the world,” he declared.

Apart from running his record label in Nigeria, Prince Idowu Adegbite Tella also owns a company that is into student travels and agencies in two countries. He works for the University of Georgia as the International Student Recruiting Officer as well.
