As Lagos’ Fashion Week comes to culture and light, Nigerian luxury designer Banke Kuku will be introducing her latest collection, “Savannah”, a collection that explores resilience and renewal through the lens of contemporary African craftsmanship.
The collection is said to draw inspiration from the savannah in bloom, channeling the raw beauty of nature into a refined dialogue between color, texture, and form. Each piece evoking the quiet strength of African landscapes, the contrast of vast grasslands and delicate wildflowers, of endurance and grace.
“A savannah is a lesson in resilience,” says Banke Kuku, Creative Director of Banke Kuku Textiles. “It survives harsh seasons and returns in full color. That cycle of endurance and rebirth is what I wanted to translate, not just visually, but emotionally.”
In Savannah, Kuku’s background in textile design will take center stage. Custom prints reinterpret natural motifs, elephants, giraffes, and birds, into abstract patterns that move with rhythm and fluidity across the body.
The silhouettes will balance structure and ease, reflecting the dual nature of the savannah itself: both enduring and ever-evolving.
