Agu points the way to Nigeria’s victory over Algeria

Eagles camp opens in Uyo November 7

Super Eagles goalkeepers’ trainer, Aloy Agu, has declared that Nigeria would approach the forthcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria with zeal and steadfastness, saying the recent sack of the North African team’s coach was a reminder that the Algerians were not taking chances in their bid to be in Russia.

Agu promised that the Eagles would work hard to give Algeria a big fight, acknowledging that the North Africans would not take chances in their remaining group games, especially the matches against the Super Eagles.

He believes that the Eagles’ victory over Zambia has given Nigeria the edge, which can only be retained through hard work, saying that the team have collectively agreed to go all out to pick every point available in the group.

The former Eagles goalkeeper, who said Algeria’s draw with Cameroun has imposed on the North Africans the duty of winning all their other games if they desired to steal the Russia 2018 ticket, assured that Nigeria would deal with the situation no matter the tactics deployed by the Fennecs.

“The Eagles will fight hard to win their remaining World Cup qualifiers. Algeria is a tough team and the Eagles know that we need to step up our game to withstand their firepower.

“As it stands now, they are like wounded lions who are striving to get back their position. I can assure you that the Super Eagles will not allow the victory over Zambia to get into their heads… the players are well focused on winning all the remaining games to be in top contention for the World Cup ticket. All hands must be on deck to make the Super Eagles succeed,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, has confirmed that the team would battle the Algerians in Uyo on November 12, adding that preparations for the crunchy tie is in top gear, as the team camp opens November 7.
