Anambra Federations Cup draw stalled as Police arrest FA secretary
The scheduled draw for Anambra State Federation Cup was last Thursday stalled following the arrest of the Secretary of the State Football Association (ASFA), Mr. Chijioke Onyedika by the Police.
His arrest followed a petition bothering on alleged financial impropriety that trailed the yet to be conducted Anambra FA election billed for last year.
The presence of the police with a Magistrate Court order for the arrest of the Secretary and his subsequent arrest brought the draws event at the Rojenny Stadium, Oba to an abrupt end.
Owners and supporters of the 62 clubs, which registered for the tournament, were barely returning from recess when the policemen stormed the venue and produced an order from a magistrate court for the arrest of the FA scribe.
The development made the official of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Joshua Onoja, who was presiding over the event to call it off indefinitely.
The Anambra FA scribe according to our source was quizzed for about for three hours at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Awka and released on self recognition.

I will not be surprised if the sole purpose of the arrest was to forestall the election, as a man who is fit to be granted bail on self recognition, is not likely to run away after the election.
We will review and take appropriate action.
