Uyo agog as 4,000 athletes set for MTN Champs

Entries for the second MTN Champs slated to hold from October 26 to 28 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, reached a record-breaking 3,958 from 103 secondary schools and 14 junior teams.

It doubles the nearly 1700 entries received for the first edition held in Benin City, Edo State, two weeks ago.

A statement by the organisers, Making of Champions (MoC), yesterday, urged registered athletes and schools to check for their names in the final list of athlete entries by school/team, age group and event.

“It is compulsory for at least one parent or legal guardian of each participating athlete to sign the Parental Consent Form, which can be downloaded,” the statement said.

According to MoC, the three-day competition will hold at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, and collection of competition bibs for all registered schools/athletes will commence at the same venue from October 24, to confirm their participation and to remain on their event start lists.

“All athletes must also print the one-page parental consent form for their parents or legal guardian to sign and return at bib collection – a recognised contact of each Athletes’ school/team should coordinate collection of their bibs and the return of their signed parental consent forms,” it said.
